| How
do you make the interior of a 30,000
square foot tent resemble an elegant
department store? That was
the design challenge that Fusion
Display & Design, Inc.
faced at the 2005 US Open Golf
Championships.
Designing
the pavilion involved meshing the
desire of the client for an upscale,
modern layout with the USGA staff’s
color scheme and materials selection.
The resulting store featured wowed
visitors with its whitewashed maple
and taupe trim, utilizing extensive
graphic merchandising displays, and
colorful POP displays to reinforce
the individual vendor’s brand
awareness.
Underneath this huge
temporary edifice, the selling floor
featured the following:
- Over 100
free-standing fixtures and displays
- 30 pillars
- Hundreds
of feet of overhead superstructures
that added a distinct visual element
- 280 light
fixtures
- 45 Cash
Wrap units
- 30,000
square feet of carpet
Result:
The Pavilion’s visual merchandising
scheme produced strong results, with
participating vendors reporting a
successful sell-through of almost
all of their merchandise.
